Unified Patent Court (“UPC Agreement”)
A court common to the contracting parties for the settlement of disputes relating to European patents and European patents with unitary effect (unitary patents) to be established pursuant to the UPC Agreement.
Unitary Patent
A European patent with unitary effect, that is to say a European patent granted by the European Patent Office for the territories of the states that ratify the Agreement for a Unified Patent Court under the provisions of Regulation (EU) No 1257/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 Dec 2012 implementing enhanced cooperation in the area of the creation of unitary patent protection.
A multilateral copyright convention administered by UNESCO.
A right that subsists throughout the EU to prevent the copying of a new design with individual character and to the marketing, importing, exporting, use or stocking of copies of such designs.
An agreement to establish a Unified Patent Court signed on 19 Feb 2013 by the governments of 25 EU member states including the government of the United Kingdom.
A new type of intellectual property right that applies only to the UK and certain dependent territories which arises under Part III of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 to prevent others from making articles to an original design or a design document for making such articles.
