Jane Lambert Patents Court  (HH Judge Hacon)  Philip Morris Products SA and another v Nicoventures Trading Ltd and another  [2023] EWHC 2616 (Pat) (25 Oct 2023) This was a claim by Philip Morris Products SA and Philip Morris Limited ("PMI") for the revocation of European patent (UK) 3 367 830 B1  ("EP830") and a counterclaim by Nicoventures Trading Limited and British American Tobacco (Investments)  Limited ("BAT") for the infringement of that patent.  There was also an application by BAT to amend the patent and an application by PMI for an Arrow declaration. These proceedings came on for trial before His Honour Judge Hacon sitting as a judge of the High Court between 21 and 23 and on 27 and 28 Sept, 2023.  The learned judge delivered judgment on 25 Ocr 2023 (see  Philip Morris Products SA and another v Nicoventures Trading Ltd and another [2023] EWHC 2616 (Pat) (25 Oct 2023)). ("Supponor") of infringing its  European patent (UK)  3 295 663 B1  for digitally overlaying an image with another image with their "SVB System". The invention for which that patent had been granted enables the superimposition of advertisements in TV broadcasts of sporting events that are different from the advertisements seen by spectators on billboards in the stadium.   Jane Lambert Business and Property Courts of England and Wales, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (Mr Nicholas Caddick QC) Vernacare Ltd v Moulded Fibre Products Ltd.   [2022] EWHC  2197 (IPEC) This was an action for patent infringement.  It was brought by  Vernacare Limited ("Vernacare")  against  Moulded Fibre Products Limited (“MFP”).   Vernacare held the following UK patents:  GB 2446793 (“793”)   for a wash bowl. and  GB2439947 ("947")  for mouldable paper pulp composition.  It complained that a wash bowl marketed by WFP infringed both patents. WFP challenged the validity of those patents and denied that its wash bowl infringed 793.  The proceedings were tried by Nicholas Caddick QC (as he then was) sitting as a deputy judge of the Chancery Division between 13 and 15 June 2022. He delivered judgment on 15 June 2022 (see  Vernacare Ltd v Moulded Fibre Products Ltd [2022] EWHC 2197 (IPEC))....

  Jane Lambert Patents Court (Mr Justice Meade)  Promptu Systems Corporation v Sky UK Ltd and others [2021] EWHC 2021 (Pat) (19 July 2021) This was a claim for patent infringement by Promptu Systems Corporation ("Promptu") against Sky UK Ltd. and various related companies ("Sky") and a counterclaim by Sky for revocation. The patent in suit had been granted for a system and method of voice recognition near a wireline node of a network supporting cable television and/or video delivery by the European Patent Office under publication number EP1290889B1 . The action and counterclaim came on before Mr Justice Meade on 14 to 16 June 2021 and his lordship delivered judgment on 19 July 2021 (see Promptu Systems Corporation v Sky UK Ltd and others [2021] EWHC 2021 (Pat) (19 July 2021).
