According to The Case for Space (published by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology in July 2023) the UK space sector is already worth over Ā£17.5 billion and employs 48,800 people. Estimates of the size of the global space economy in 2021 vary between US$ 386 and US$ 469 billion.  Space is therefore an increasingly important to the British economy.
